Overall Exports of Turkey’s Automotive Industry

Turkey- March 2019 Monthly Export Figures 
 
 
• Turkey's Exports increased by 0.5% in March 2019 amounting to 16 billion 333 million USD. Despite the decline by 8.2% in March 2019 exports of the automotive industry ranked first in the exports of Turkey. In March 2019, the automotive industry scored 2.9 billion USD in exports. The share of the industry in overall exports of Turkey was 18%. 
 
• In March 2019, while the automotive industry experienced an 8% decline in exports, it scored the highest March performance in its history with 2.9 billion USD.
 
• In March, there was a decline in exports in the main product groups other than the bus-minibus-midibus product group.
 
• A decrease of 12% was observed in the exports to the EU countries and the share of EU countries in our exports was 76%. 
 
• While the exports of the industry on a dollar basis decreased by 6% in the first three months, Euro-based exports, where most of the exports were realized, increased by 1.5% in the same period.
 
• In the first quarter of the year, the loss of exports due to Euro / Dollar parity approached 500 million USD.
 
 
Turkey's Automotive Sector’s March 2019 Monthly Commodity Groups Exports
 
 
• Passenger car exports decreased by 8% in March 2019 amounting to 1 billion 173 million USD. It has been the largest product group in the industry's exports.
 
• Supply Industry exports decreased by 9% in March 2019 and amounted to 950 million USD. It is the second largest product group in the industry's exports.
 
• Export of Motorized Vehicles for Transportation of Goods decreased by 16% to 465 million USD, Bus-Minibus-Midibus exports increased by 3% to 113 million USD.
 
• While there is a decrease of 12% in exports to Germany, the highest export destination of the Supply Industry, and a 7% decrease in exports to our second largest market, France,  a 21% increase observed in exports to the UK, one of our major markets.
 
• In March 2019, an export growth of 22% was registered to France, the largest market in passenger cars. Some other major countries where the increase experienced are Italy with 40%, Germany with 21%, the United Kingdom with 27%, Belgium with 40%, the Netherlands with 43%, Spain with 6% and Israel with 84%.
 
• In the Motor Vehicles for Transportation of Goods, while a decrease of 8% to the United Kingdom, 10% to France, one of our major markets, 25% to Italy, and 42% to Slovenia was experienced, an increase of 17% to the Netherlands and 9% to Spain was registered.
 
 
Turkey's Automotive Sector’s March 2019 Monthly Exports
 
 
• In Turkey's automotive exports in March 2019, while Germany maintaining its position with a value of 391 million USD, the EU has maintained its significance with a 76% share. 
 
• In the third month of 2019, France was our second largest market with an export figure of 336 million USD, while automotive exports to this country increased by 2% compared to the previous year. Our exports to Italy, our third largest market, decreased by 33% to 270 million USD.
 
• Exports of the sector to the top 10 countries in March increased including by 2% to France, 4% to Spain, 50% to Israel, and 30% to Romania, while a decrease experienced to other countries.
 
• A 22% increase in exports of passenger cars, the largest export item, is observed to be effective in the increase in exports to France and a 6% increase in exports of passenger cars, the largest export item, was effective in the increase in exports to Spain.

Exports on Country Group Basis
 
 
• In March 2019, European Union countries ranked first in exports on a country group basis with 76% share and the value of 2 billion 200 million USD. Exports to EU countries decreased by 12%.
 
 
• In the third month of 2019, exports increased by 22% to Middle East Countries, 1% to African Countries, 18% to North American Free Trade Countries, 4% to Other European Countries and 21% to Far East Countries.
